Benjamin Caballero, PhD, M.D., Professor, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

caballeroDr. Caballero is professor of international health and pediatrics, and was the founding director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He served in numerous national and international scientific advisory boards, including the Standing Committee for Dietary Reference Intakes of the Institute of Medicine, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans Committee, the Food and Drug Administration Advisory Board, and the Nutrition and Metabolism Study Section of the National Institutes of Health. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Academic Pediatrics Association and a fellow of the American Society for Nutrition and of the Royal Society of Medicine (U.K.).


Jose (Pepe) M. Saavedra, M.D., Global Chief Medical Officer, Nestlé Nutrition

exp_saavedra90x90Dr. Saavedra directs the global medical, scientific and regulatory efforts of Nestlé Nutrition. He also serves as the chairman of the board of the Nestlé Nutrition Institute. Over the last 10 years Dr. Saavedra has expanded the scientific innovation of Nestlé Nutrition and enhanced the educational and research activities with a focus on infant health. Dr. Saavedra currently holds joint appointments in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He founded and developed the Johns Hopkins Children’s Nutrition Center, which he directed for 10 years. Dr. Saavedra’s academic and clinical work has focused on nutritional management of intestinal dysfunction and preventive nutritional strategies. Dr. Saavedra has carried out seminal work in the area of probiotics in pediatric populations; and has an extensive record of publications in nutrition, particularly in the area of intestinal microbiota, immunity and effects on long term health. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
